The National Traveller Women’s Forum condemns the protest and blockade at Glenamuck Cottages, located close to the site of the fire which the council have identified as a temporary accommodation site for the 15 family members who have been left homeless as a result of the fire in the early hours of last Saturday morning.

This is outrages and an inhumane act at a time when 10 members of their immediate family have died in a horrific fire (5 children and 5 adults) and one child Tom Connors aged 4 years remains in a serious but stable condition in Crumlin hospital.  The family are in despair and should be afforded the right and respect to grieve their loss in their own home and with privacy.  We would like to add our thanks to Southside Traveller Action Groups with regard to the County Council and other agencies and the many local residents who have been so supportive to those affected in these very difficult few days.
